Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing started the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and fled to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could enable the party reach places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of Casimir.
